Quote
“‘—BUT I KNOW THERE ISN’T NO FEAR, EITHER.’ PIGGY PAUSED. ‘UNLESS—‘ RALPH MOVED RESTLESSLY. ‘UNLESS WHAT?’ ‘UNLESS WE GET FRIGHTED OF PEOPLE’”(70).
At this time, Ralph has called a meeting to discus the Beastie that has been frightening the children. Even though, there has been no proof of an actual monster. Piggy brings up how it could actually just be that they are afraid of each other. This conversation is a sign to the reader that the boys are becoming more paranoid at the idea of the Beastie and make it out to be worse than it is. Also, it indicates a deeper fear of each other what everyone is capable of: the turn to savagery.
My reason for choosing this quote is that the premise of it is similar to my favorite saying: "It's all mental baby."
